Educational Opportunity Fund Program Student Development
EOF STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS Educational Opportunity Program Student Council (EOPSC)
EOPSC consists of the following Committees: Legislative Affairs, University Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Community Affairs. These Committees focus on specific areas concerning the EOPSC and the EOF Program at Rutgers-New Brunswick School of Arts and Sciences in an effort to strategically and efficiently carry out the roles and responsibilities of the EOPSC. Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society Chi Alpha Epsilon was formed to recognize the academic achievements of students admitted to colleges and the universities through non-traditional criteria and serves developmental, SSS and Educational Opportunity Program students. Its purposes are to promote continued high academic standards, to foster increased communication among its members, and to honor academic excellence achieved by those students. Alumni involvement enables networking opportunities for members. Programs sponsored by the society encourage other students toward this accomplishment. Please note: Although campus-based organizations currently exist on College Avenue, Douglass, and Livingston, we are in the process of forming a SAS chapter for Chi Alpha Epsilon. The Alliance of Educational Opportunity Fund Students of New Jersey (A.E.S.N.J.) A.E.S.N.J. leadership is a community of New Jersey college students enrolled in the Commission of Higher Education's campus based Educational Opportunity Fund Programs. The mission of A.E.S.N.J. is the development of strategies and programs which strengthen the social, political, economic, intellectual, and spiritual welfare of EOF students operating under the guidance and direction of the New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund Professional Association (NJEOFPA). NJEOFPA is a non-profit corporation comprised of professional staff--including directors, administrators, educators, and counselors from some 56 undergraduate college and university programs throughout the state. Source: http://www.njeofpa.org/students/about.htm AFFILIATED ORGANIZATIONS The Black Men's Collective Serves to increase the interaction and dialogue among black male undergraduates, staff and faculty, utilizing forums on social, academic and political issues. Seeks to address the issues and concerns impacting the recruitment, retention and graduation of black males at Rutgers University. Contact Chris Catching at catching@rci.rutgers.edu. The Latina Focus Group An empowerment group dedicated to the discussion of cultural, educational, professional, and emotional concerns of Latina life. The group focuses on specific curriculum and programs that will meet these needs. Contact Rosanna Reyes at rreyes@echo.rutgers,edu. SPECIAL INITIATIVES Politics and Possibilities Seminar Enhances the political awareness of students at Rutgers University. Exposes students to a variety of political ideologies and, through active learning, develop their own perspective about current issues. Contact Angela Moody Robinson sis@rci.rutgers.edu. Lin Project A program that prepares students for careers and or advanced education in the field of business or economics.
